At Helensburgh Accountants, there are no one-size-fits-all packages or generic solutions. Every piece of work is carried out by me personally and shaped around how you run your business.
Whether you’re launching a new venture or have been established for years, I’ll make sure your accounts, tax, payroll, and VAT are managed correctly — and that my advice is tailored to your goals, challenges, and the way you keep your records.
Below is a guide to the services I offer and typical fees. Think of these as conversation starters rather than fixed bundles. If you’re unsure where to begin or what’s right for you, just get in touch and I’ll talk you through the options.
Sole Trader Accounts & Self Assessment
From £399 — fixed fee
Being a sole trader doesn’t automatically make your accounts simple — and it certainly shouldn’t mean your accountant takes a one-size-fits-all approach.
At Helensburgh Accountants, I take time to get to know more than just your numbers. I want to understand how you keep your books, the busy and quiet periods in your trading year, and where you’re aiming to take the business next. Filing your tax return is just one part of the job — it also needs to be correct, efficient, and structured in a way that supports your goals.
I can work from whatever system you use — whether that’s Xero, QuickBooks, a spreadsheet, or a pile of paper invoices — to prepare a compliant set of accounts under UK accounting standards. From there, I calculate your taxable profit, making sure all relevant allowances are claimed and that we make the most of legitimate HMRC-approved tax strategies.
The difference is in the dialogue. I don’t leave everything until the end of the year — we’ll keep in touch throughout, so when something changes in your business, we can factor in the tax position before the opportunity to act has passed.
Company Accounts & Director Self Assessment
From £664 — fixed fee
Running a limited company brings extra responsibilities — but it also opens up more ways to plan ahead and work efficiently.
At Helensburgh Accountants, I work directly with company directors to make sure both the business and you personallyare looked after. That means preparing your company accounts and Corporation Tax return alongside your personal Self Assessment — ensuring the two work together rather than against each other.
I’ll help you find the most tax-efficient mix of salary and dividends so you pay the lowest correct amount of tax — and do so with confidence. This isn’t guesswork; it’s tailored to your income, lifestyle, and long-term plans, and reviewed each year.
You won’t only hear from me when filing deadlines approach. Most of my company clients get a mid-year review — often in person when I’m in and around Helensburgh — to discuss major purchases, changes in direction, or growth plans, and how to approach them with tax in mind.
All Companies House submissions are included. I’ll also remind you when your Confirmation Statement is due, so nothing gets overlooked.
There’s no call centre, no departments, and no junior staff — every stage of the process, every question, and every submission comes directly from me.
VAT & Bookkeeping
VAT from £95 per quarter
Bookkeeping from £38/hour — tailored to your business
VAT and bookkeeping aren’t just administrative tasks — they’re the foundation of reliable accounts and confident decision-making. When they’re done well, they can save you time, reduce costs, and avoid unnecessary stress. When they’re done badly, they create errors, penalties, and missed opportunities.
At Helensburgh Accountants, I’ll make sure your VAT setup is right for your business. Whether you’re on the Flat Rate Scheme, Standard VAT, or thinking about Cash Accounting, I’ll explain the differences and check whether switching could lead to savings. I also take care of new VAT registrations, deregistrations, and ongoing compliance with Making Tax Digital (MTD).
For bookkeeping, I don’t believe in forcing one system on every client. I work with whatever suits you best — QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or even my own in-house app for smaller businesses. If you want to keep your own records, I’ll provide the training and support to help you do it properly. If you’d rather hand it all over, I’ll manage it from start to finish.
Because every business is different, bookkeeping isn’t something I price as a fixed package online. The cost depends on factors like volume, complexity, and how much you want to keep in-house. But whether you’re sending me tidy spreadsheets or a shoebox full of receipts, I’ll make it work — and I’ll make sure you understand it.
Payroll
£380 per year (up to 10 staff)
Discounted rates available for director-only payroll
Payroll can be trickier than it looks — even with only a small team. From Real Time Information (RTI) submissions to pension deductions and net pay calculations, it’s an area where small errors can quickly turn into frustrating problems.
At Helensburgh Accountants, I provide a straightforward, fixed-fee payroll service that covers all the essentials. You can focus on running your business while I handle PAYE codes, deadlines, and compliance — making sure everything is submitted on time and done correctly.
Each payslip is calculated clearly, with a simple breakdown of exactly what to pay and when. If you’re hiring staff for the first time, I’ll guide you through every requirement step by step, so you’re compliant from day one. And if you’re a sole director, I offer a reduced-rate payroll service designed to keep things neat and compliant without unnecessary costs.
As with all my services, you won’t be passed to a junior or forced to navigate a help desk. You deal directly with me — and I deal with the payroll.
Alongside core services such as accounts, tax, VAT, payroll, and bookkeeping, I also work with start-ups, landlords handling rental income, and established business owners who need one-off advice or a fresh perspective. If you’re not yet sure exactly what you need, that’s no problem — get in touch and I’ll help you work it out.
